One of the oldest fossils found with feathers, Archaeopteryx lithographica was found near Blumenberg, Germany in 1877 and is about 150 million years old. Named after the limestone quarry where the original fossil was discovered, Archaeopteryx lithographica means “ANCIENT WING FROM THE PRINTING STONE”.

These sterling silver jewelry earrings are a beautiful depiction of that fossil and are shaped like an egg to signify the age old question “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” As with the Archaeopteryx, it is believed to have had scales and teeth like a reptile but, also, feathers. Did it descend from the dinosaurs or was it always a bird? The argument goes on.

The Birder's Luck Amulet Earrings match the Birders Luck Amulet, designed by Poo Wright-Pulliam and beautifully carved by John C. Caccia, are cast and stamped with almost a full ounce of sterling silver per set and each measures 3/4" long by 5/8" wide. Each Amulet is hung from a sterling silver French wire. For an extra $10 choose a Swarovski Crystal or Pearl suspended between the two.
Amulet means: something worn to protect against evil. Wear the Birder's Luck Amulet Earrings to bring you great birding adventures and great birds.
